Yowome Williams

Yowome Williams has a deep passion for African culture that began in childhood and helped shape her strong connection to her African heritage. 

As a parent in the diaspora, she wants her son to have the same deep appreciation for his African roots. However, she has struggled to find authentic resources and narratives that truly reflect Africa from an African perspective. Determined to bridge this gap, she takes him on cultural immersive adventures across the continent, allowing him to experience Africa’s
beautiful landscape, rich and diverse traditions, history, and warm hospitality firsthand.

Her desire is to carry along many more young ones on her adventures around the continent through engaging stories, shared experiences and hands on activities in a bid for them to identify with, celebrate and preserve African cultural heritage.

As someone who has been shaping young minds right from her days as a high school teacher and currently as a homeschool mom, she envisions a future where African children, no matter where they are in the world, feel a deep sense of security, belonging, and pride in their roots.
