Some experiences are truly once in a lifetime—and our visit to Kitengela Hot Glass was exactly that. Never in our wildest dreams, would my son and I have thought that we would one day be blowing through a hot mess of discarded glass.
Located on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya, Kitengela Hot Glass is a haven for dreamers and creative maestros alike. Despite initial hesitations due to its remote location and challenging roads, the journey proved to be well worth it.
🔥 The Art of Glassblowing
Upon arrival, we were greeted by whimsical sculptures and colorful glass installations, tinkling glass serenading us. The studio buzzed with energy as skilled artisans transformed glass junk into pieces of wonder.
Participating in the glassblowing process was exhilarating. My son and I excitedly cheered each other on as we took turns to blow through the metal pipe required. It wasn’t an easy feat. But what joy it was witnessing firsthand the fusion of breath, fire, and creativity. Two glass balls filled with our respective breaths!
